BERRY

BERRY

Just a little over two hours drive from central Sydney, the picturesque town of Berry can be reached via the famous Seacliff Drive North of Wollongong, and it’s certainly worth the slight detour on the way down the coast, or back to Sydney. Continuing from Wollongong, you’ll witness the stunning coastal scenery around Kiama and sticking to the main (Princes) highway, you’ll soon arrive in Berry.

Surrounded by lush green valleys and close to many beautiful beaches, Berry is half an hours drive from the natural beauty of Jervis Bay and only twenty minutes from Kangaroo Valley, so it’s a great base from which to explore the local area.

There are a wide variety of accommodation choices including B & B’s, motels, hotels, and luxury guesthouses to suit all budgets. Shopping in Berry is of course one of the main reasons this town is so popular, You'll find an interesting collection of shops, galleries, boutiques, antique and collectibles stores along the main strip, Queen St and scattered all around. From a great coffee, breakfast or lunch at the Woodfired Sourdough Bakery, a good pub meal at the Historic Berry Hotel, or a memorable dinner at the favourite local restaurant, The Hungry Duck, there are plenty of options for all budgets.

The Shoalhaven Coast is one of Australia’s newest wine regions (declared in 2002) and is dotted with many boutique wineries many of which have gourmet food outlets. If passive pastimes aren’t your thing, there are also a host of outdoor pursuits on Berry’s doorstep to choose from, such as bushwalking through local National Parks, playing a few rounds of golf, ocean and estuary fishing, surfing, canoeing, horse riding and rock climbing.

No matter what the time of year Berry is a great destination, snuggle up by the fire on a cold winter’s night or hit the nearby seven mile beach for a surf in summer, there are lots of reasons to make the South Coast your getaway destination.
